I woke up sometime Monday night going in to Tuesday with a 102 degree fever, so my loving husband bitched and moaned but stayed home to take care of me. He hates to use his pto, with his first post college job he had been there nearly a year and had only used 3 days of his 3 weeks pto. Wednesday was no better I spent the say either freezing from fever or sweating to death from it breaking. Well Thursday morning I woke up feeling the best I had felt all week and thinking heck yeah i kicked that viruses ass. Well my body was lying to me, I went to the restroom later on in the day and to spare you the details lets just say my friend Gabe was rushing me to the ER. 6 Hours later and many more pokes and prods. I was diagnosed with a severe kidney infection, so much so that they wanted to keep me overnight thankfully I convinced them otherwise.
Well in other news this week, I did not attend Blogher but I am so tired of reading the bitching and moaning about the bad things that happened. Geeze ladies think of people like me and many other bloggers that I know that would have loved to have been there. I know that you didn't have a good time and some bad things happened but why spend so much time and energy focusing on the Bad and not the good.
I recently discovered Man Vs. Food (as in today). How did I not know about this awesome show, it is like Diners, Drive-in's ,and Dive's but with out Guy which is a plus. I can't believe some of the things that the host Adam eats.
I am thinking of creating my own blog award to give out.
I recently won a copy of Ms. Single Mama Uncensored, I am so grateful to have won. so far it is really good, it is less then $15 and a really good read.
The picture from last weeks Wordless Wednesday was my Mom and Daddy taken in Jan 1974 at the Ft Worth Stockshow Four months after they were married.

The Ultimate Looking Glass
While at the art museum last week, I saw the most magnificent looking glass and when I looked in it I fell through to the most wonderful world. With bright colors, sunshine with out unbearable heat, no dirty diapers, and an always clean house. How I wish that was true, the museum was amazing. To watch my son talk to paintings, reach out to complete strangers as they talked to him as he absorbed the world around him like a sponge.
He doesn't judge the art or the people around he just takes it all in so that he might understand what it is that is taking place around him.He doesn't dislike someone or something because everyone else does he is the ultimate looking glass. Some days I wish i could fall into his world to see what it is like through his eyes. Seeing and learning new things everyday with excitement, nothing is yet mundane or routine. Even the simple everyday things he gets excited about, eating a meal, changing a diaper or going on a walk are adventures to him. When did the small things become mundane and boring? What would it take a little more time to enjoy all the small things again? I need to remember to take the time to enjoy that accomplishing even the smallest task brings, enjoy my surroundings (not always think what can I do to make this better) and smile at the little things. So that is what I am asking all of you readers out there to do the same to look at the world around you and enjoy.

Top 10 Reasons I am Excited to Stay Home with My Family this Coming Weekend.

Well Since I won't be attending BlogHer '09 this weekend. I have decide to make the best of it by reminding my self why I love being at home this weekend. While doing this I will be entering Cozi's contest for mom's who didn't get to go to Shy Town for the festivity's. With no further ado,
My Top Ten Reasons for being happy to be at home this weekend:
- My FIL is coming to visit and I get to see him with his grandson that adores him.
- Getting to sleep in as long as little Ian allows beside my loving husband.
- I will have a clean house since my FIL is visiting.
- Getting to sleep in bed with my fur baby every night, FootFoot is the best foot warmer ever.
- Getting all my list switched over to my Cozi page.
- My own bathroom ( public bathrooms freak me out including hotel bathrooms)
- Getting to cook instead of eating out so that I can make healthier foods.
- Not having to pack (does anybody else find this as stressful as I do?).
- The 30 Day challenge isn't over til Saturday.
- Maybe finally getting all the laundry finished (who am I kidding).

Goverment Assitance
This post is going to make some people uncomfortable, it is going to step on toes , and to my family piss some of you off. If you don't want to be mad or made feel uncomfortable stop reading now.
I have an issue with how government aid works in this country, maybe I should say how people abuse the system. I understand that there is people who need aid but I believe it should be used for an assigned amount of time (with a year being maximum). I myself am on W.I.C (Woman Infant and Children) it helps purchase formula, juice, eggs, milk and cheese. I am not going to lie it has been a life saver. We do not plan to be on it past Ian's first birthday. We also were on food stamps when Casey was laid off shortly after Ian was born. Now during that two months he was laid off we depleted our savings but the government doesn't care that we no longer having any savings they just care that my husband is employed again so we lost that assistance. Yes to you naysayers I stay home now, but the $300 a week I was making when I was working $200 of it went to childcare. So we decided for me to stay home. Now we are trying to figure it all out, we are cutting back on things we are trying to refinance my car or worst case scenario voluntary repossession. Now why did I just over share with you all?
Well I know people that have been on government aid for many years with no plan of surviving with out it. Yet these same people have money for booze and cigarettes. They go on vacation ever year and eat out all the time. When we talk income they say my husband makes less then their husbands, what the hell. Then their are those who cheat the system by many different way that I won't go into. I don't understand how the agencies running the food stamp program don't realize this is going on or they do and just don't care?
I say all this because a family like ours would be the kind of family would use government assistance to build our savings back up and would be on it no longer then 6 months not years. This issue makes me so mad that people abuse the system when there are many families out there that could really use it just to get their feet back under them and those families get denied.

Days with Papaw
A few weekends ago Casey's Dad came to visit for the weekend. We didn't go or do anything spectacular, but we spent time together as family. It was nice to just watch David, Casey and Ian interact with each other. I wish we lived closer to him. He has been not feeling too hot recently. Davids parenting advice is always good for a laugh, not that it isn't informative. Weekends like that one make me wish that we lived closer to family.
While here that weekend the tables turned on a tradition every time we have ever stayed with David on Sunday morning he make a big hearty breakfast, well Casey got to do it for his dad and it was awesome. If you pay attention to the pictures I am pretty sure I know what my husband and son will look like at 60. I think that it is so funny how they all look so much alike.

Our first fourth of July as parents was extremely fun. We took Ian swimming for
the first time in the pool he loved it. He never once cried even when one of our neighbors little girl threw a flip flop in the pool and it land right beside him splashing his face ( in her defense she was only 2). Then after our swim Gabe and I braved wal-mart to get supplies for cooking out. It wasn't to bad. I made pasta salad for the first time and it turned out amazing.
After Ian went down the real fun began, Gabe, Abby, Brandi, Sarah, B-Ron, and us all hung out and ate my delicious cooking. All but B-ron stayed over, the next mornign we all woke up to donuts thanks too Sarah and Brandi. I have to say that it was the most relaxing weekend we have had in a while.
